Mineral-Nutritional Balancing Program for Children

This Mineral-Nutritional Balancing program is customized for your child, based on their recent Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis results and health history.

OVERVIEW

Your child’s Mineral-Nutritional Balancing program consists of:

  • several carefully chosen nutritional supplements

  • a diet based on the oxidation rate

  • plenty of rest and sleep

  • enough of the correct water for drinking (spring water, ideally, or good quality filtered)

  • other supports, which may include detoxification procedures, stress reduction, chiropractic manipulation

For best results, do as much of the program as possible. Work into it slowly if needed. Some children will go along better than others, so just do your best each day.

SUPPLEMENT NOTES

  • these personalized supplements play an important role in rebuilding body chemistry and removing toxic substances

  • always take supplements with food (other than binders like Pectasol)

  • if supplement cannot be swallowed, open or crush them and mix with food (yogurt, cheese, mashed vegetables, soups, nutrient dense smoothies)

  • if your child is sensitive to supplements, start with one dose a day and increase slowly to the recommended dose

  • take no supplements 1 day each week

  • do not take supplements or herbs other than those recommended as they can interfere with the functioning of the recommended supplements; if there is something else you think your child needs please ask me about it

HOW THIS PROGRAM WORKS

Children and teenagers respond beautifully, and often quickly, to a Mineral-Nutritional Balancing program, which works differently than most medical approaches. Instead of using remedies for symptoms, this program gently balances body chemistry and improves your child’s vitality and energy level. As this occurs, many symptoms disappear, often within weeks to months.

Your child’s Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis reflects the current state of body chemistry and how your child’s body is responding to stress. What is revealed on the test results will be addressed with diet, supplementary nutrients, lifestyle modification, and perhaps detoxification procedures.

When a retest is done after several months, the results will reveal a deeper layer. Many times, the results will look quite different from the previous test. Several retests followed by updates to the program are often needed to uncover and reverse several layers of imbalances, a process called retracing.

Healing reactions are temporary flare-ups of symptoms that occur as toxic metals, toxic chemicals, and infections are eliminated from the body. Symptoms can include sore throats, rashes, anxiety, fatigue, or other usually minor symptoms. These reactions are welcome evidence of healing. Please message me via Practice Better if any symptoms occur ~ we can always support the body and/or adjust dosages or pause on supplements as needed.

A key to success is for parents to consistently implement the diet and supplements. With some children this is easy, while in other instances it may require more effort.

RETEST
2 months *unless otherwise stated in your consult

Retests are needed to make accurate adjustments to a Mineral-Nutritional Balancing program. As the body chemistry changes, the diet and supplement recommendations often change. Children’s biochemistry changes quicker than adults, so we need to test more frequently.

DIET & WATER

DIET

Stews and thick soups are a tasty way to include both healthy protein and lots of cooked vegetables. Eliminate/minimize processed foods or anything that comes from a package or box.

Suggestions for supporting your child in following the diet:

  • Involve your child in food shopping, and offer them choices about which of the recommended foods they eat. Keep in mind that it’s beneficial to rotate foods for optimal variety.

  • Involve your child in food preparation. For example, have them help you make the carrot juice and give them a choice of how they would like their eggs cooked.

  • Lead by example, and eat the foods recommended for your child.

  • If needed, a positive reward system can help.

WATER

Spring water is preferred as it contains natural minerals. This is usually available at a grocery store or can be delivered to the home.

If you are using tap water, it’s important to utilize a filter – message me for my recommendations. Some filtration notes: carbon block filters do not remove much fluoride or most toxic metals. Avoid reverse osmosis and alkaline water. Mild herb teas such as chamomile are okay.

LIFESTYLE

Your child needs:

  • peace and quiet, especially at home

  • quiet time in nature

  • physical activity (although not vigorous)

  • intellectual stimulation

  • protection from too much activity, stress, and sensory input from computers, cell phones, televisions, and computer games

  • your time and attention; use care when leaving your child in a daycare setting or a school setting

  • the opportunity to receive some spiritual teaching if they seem open to it

Rest and sleep: Plenty of sleep (and rest more generally) are among the most important parts of this program. Create the conditions to support your child in getting 10 or more hours of sleep each day (ideally beginning between 7PM and 8PM) plus short rests at other times as needed. Demanding schedules can slow the healing process so do not overschedule your child. Your child might experience periods of fatigue on this program, and healing requires plenty of rest.

Outdoor light (daily): If possible, have your child spend at least half an hour outside each day. Even on a cloudy day, outdoor light delivers significantly more lux (a measure of the amount of light) than indoor light. In very warm climates, avoid the midday sun. Use hats and light clothing instead of sunglasses or sunscreen.

Foot reflexology: Aim to do this twice each day on your child. This simple procedure balances the acupuncture meridians quickly and easily without the need for advanced knowledge or training. It is grounding, relaxing, safe, and effective for reducing temporary symptoms such as fatigue and headaches. Beginning with the toes, rub each foot firmly all over for approximately 5 minutes. Spend more time on any area that is tender or painful.

Spinal twist (daily): Twisting poses gently stretch and align the spine, and encourage healthy digestion through stimulating blood and oxygen flow.
Lie down on the floor and hug knees into chest. Turn the bent legs toward the left side of the room while extending the right arm to the right side. Guide the depth of the twist by placing the left hand on the legs and gently press toward the floor. Hold the posture for 10–15 breaths. Return bent legs to centre, and perform the rotation on the other side. It’s important to relax comfortably in this position so if the bent legs don’t touch each other when you rotate and/or don’t reach the ground, consider placing a yoga block, pillow, or rolled-up towel between both legs and/or the bottom leg and floor.

DETOXIFICATION

Sauna therapy/single red lamp therapy (daily): Among its many benefits, it improves circulation, and helps rid the body of infections, toxic metals, toxic chemicals, and medical drugs. Children generally enjoy the sauna’s warmth and cozy feeling. A full sauna is not suitable for a child under age 6, and an adult must be with an older child. An alternative to a full sauna is a single red lamp, which can be used for 5 minutes on the abdomen and back.

Clean up homes and workspaces: Keep your child away from pesticides and other lawn chemicals, solvents, paints, and other household chemicals.

Clean up personal care products: We absorb what we put into our body; choose non-toxic products. If your child uses a deodorant, choose one that does not contain aluminum.

Minimize electromagnetic pollution: Turn off electronic equipment that is not in use; at night, turn off and unplug all electrical devices that are near where you sleep. Keep electrical devices (including clock radios, cell phones, computers) away from a child’s head when the child is sleeping. Cell phones may not be safe for children and should be used as little as possible. Consider using a corded (versus cell or cordless) phone in the home. If using a cell or cordless phone wear a headset. Minimize dental and other x-rays, and nuclear scans such as MRI, CAT, PET.
